Estimating & Installation

As long standing members of The Tile Association we pride ourselves on the quality of our installations from kitchen splash-backs to full bathrooms, hallways and foot paths. We are always competitively priced and have been successfully completing work across the North of England for several years, with many letters of thanks and compliments about our standard of work on display at our showroom.

We offer a full installation service for our wood, tile, Amtico, Marmoleum, Karndean and under floor heating products using our in house team or if you wish to carry out the work yourself, we can provide advice and the products needed.

Once you have chosen your tile or flooring we are happy to provide a guide price based on your own measurements or plans but for a firm price one of our fitting team will need to carry out a short site survey. Our estimating service for installation work is free and does not place you under any obligation to take matters further.

We offer a number of additional services including moving furniture, taking up and disposing of your old flooring, easing doors and adjusting plinths. Please discuss your requirements with our estimator as additional charges may apply and we can include these in your estimate.

Please note that although our estimate aims to be accurate, but we can't foresee every issue until fitting has begun and existing flooring has been removed. Additional charges may be necessary, but we will discuss these with you before proceeding.

Installation Day

Depending on which additional services you've arranged with us, you will have to make some preparations before your fitter arrives to carry out the work.

Please clear the area of your installation, moving any furniture and remove any old flooring to leave the room clear ready for the fitting. If you've booked us to move furniture for you, please clear any objects such as ornaments and drawer or cupboard contents.

On the first day of your fitting either you or your representative will need to be at home for a short while, so that our fitter can discuss your requirements and raise any unforeseen issues. If its not possible for you to be at home, please ensure we have a contact number just in case we need to get in touch. Our fitters will prepare your installation as necessary and install your new floor/tiles;  when they've finished will remove any waste including your old flooring/tiles - if you've booked the disposal service. They'll leave the room looking tidy and ready to use.

Karndean/Amtico/Marmoleum/Wood Flooring Installations

Generally your new floor can be walked on with care within an hour of installation but please do not hoover or mop your floor or move large heavy furniture around on the floor within 24 hours. Your new wood floor can be walked on immediately.

Karndean, Amtico, Marmoleum and wood flooring can be damaged by dragging furniture across your new floor. The use protective pads on the bottom of any furniture you move regularly will help minimise any scratching to the floor.

Cleaning Your New Floor

Karndean, Amtico, Marmoleum and wood flooring is easy to look after but generally standard floor cleaning products e.g. Flash, Mr Muscle should not be used as these will damage your floor over time by stripping off its protective coating and make your floor hard to keep clean.

Steam mops should not be used for the same reason.

Karndean and Amtico have their own floor wash which should be used at least once a month,  in between time a damp mop will keep the floor clean. For a wood floor a damp mop will keep the floor clean; wet mopping of a wood floor is discouraged as this can also cause damage over time.

Vacuuming is not recommended by Karndean, Amtico, Marmoleum or wood flooring manufacturers because all hoovers have parts which could scratch your new floor. A soft brush or microfiber flat head mop will keep your floor clean with little effort.

Please note: using washing up liquid regularly to clean your new floor will not damage the flooring but this will leave a fine film on the floor which you will be able to see over time as the floor will take on a dull appearance.

This information is provided in good faith, for more detailed information about looking after you new floor please refer to the appropriate manufacturers website or please contact our office if you have any specific queries about your installation.
